She had been a resident of the community we believe for more than fifty years, being the wife of James Mowder, a veteran of the civil war, who died at Coon Rapids twenty-six years ago from heart affection. She was a woman well known by all the old settlers of the locality and was highly esteemed. She was of an unobtrusive nature, of a most kindly disposition and strongly attached to her friends. She was laid to rest yesterday afternoon in Oak Hill cemetery, Rev. H. C. Hicks conducting the services: Emily Grace Mowder was born November 12, 1842, in Clinton county, Iowa, and was married to James Mowder at her home in Clinton county, Iowa, October 3, 1867. They moved to Carroll county, Iowa, in 1871. Died April 27, 1921, aged 78 years, 5 months and 15 days. Her husband preceeded her in death 26 years. She leaves to mourn her death two brothers and one sister – W.R. Grace of Flasher, N.D., George Grace of Grand Mound, Clinton county, Iowa, and Mrs. Emanuel Conner of Dedham, Iowa. The deceased of her parent’s family are Sarah E. House, John R. Grace, Mrs. Phebe E. Trites and Lewis Nelson Grace.
