Well known in Maryland Mrs Emma Abbott Gage, one of the best known women editors of Maryland died at Walter Reed Hospital, Washington, Sunday. She was born in Annapolis, and for many years was prominently connected with the life of that city. She was daughter of the late Judge William Martin Abbott and Mrs. Frances Virginia Abbott. She attended Western Maryland College. She was principal of the Annapolis Grammar School. She became assistant to her father, the owner and publisher of the Annapolis Capital and was the managing editor of the paper for many years. In this work she showed high talent and a grasp of affairs and won a fine reputation. She was the widow of Dr. Amos L. Gage, of Baltimore. She is survived by her mother, three brothers, Col. James E. Abbott, U.S. A; S. R. Abbott of Annapolis; Charles B. Abbott of Washington, and one sister Mrs. Bessie McManus of Washington. Funeral from St. Anne's Episcopal church, Annapolis, Wednesday afternoon.
