ALCORN CALLED BY DEATH Had Been Ill Several Weeks Prior To Her Death Emma Adaline Le Fever was born in Crawford County, Pennsylvania on July 27, 1848, and died at her home in Edgewood Iowa, May 27th, 1917, at the age of 68 years and 10 months. Her life up to the time of her marriage was spent at the home in Pennsylvania. On December 22, 1870, at Meadville, Pennsylvania she was married to William H. Alcorn, and in a few days they journeyed westward to begin life in the great new country of Iowa. They settled in Clayton County on a farm a mile north of Edgewood and stayed there making a home for thirty-five years. Eleven years ago on account of advancing years they left the farm and moved into Edgewood which has been their home since. Five children were born to them, four sons and one daughter, all of whom survive with the exception of one son, Law I., who preceded her in death two years ago. Mrs. Alcorn was a charter member of the Women's Relief Corps in Edgewood and was among the first to join and take an interest in the Cemetery Association. Her goodness as a neighbor and long residence in the community has built up a large circle of true friends. She was a good mother and greatly honored and loved in the family. She was ill for some months before her death, but during it she was given constant and loving care, to the full extent of her loved ones to give. She leaves to mourn; her husband; a daughter, Mrs. Anna Schacherer of Dawson, Minn.; three sons, James Wesley who lives south of Edgewood; De Forest of Roscoe, Minn.; Homer Roy of Edgewood; One step daughter, Mrs. Eva Sherman passed away about 12 years ago, Besides, she leaves one brother, Ben Le Fever of Leigh, Neb. and one brother and three sisters in Pennsylvania. The funeral services will be held this afternoon at the Methodist Church. Rev. S.C. Bretnall conducting them, and the body will be laid away in the Edgewood cemetery. Contributor: jmb
