Description	:	COLLINS, Alice Hylton, 91, of Galax, passed away Monday, September 20, 1999, in Birdmont Manner in Wytheville. She was born in Carroll County, Va., on October 15, 1907, to the late Walter Hylton and Susan Hurst Hylton. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Bryan Collins; a sister, Kittye H. Chitwood; and four brothers, Frank Hylton, Claude Hylton, Jess Hylton, and James Hylton. She is survived by one daughter, Susan C. Kirby, of Salem; a son, William H. Collins, of Blacksburg; a brother, William A. Hylton, of Columbia, Md.; six grandchildren, Susan Leigh Collins, Lynne... Chitwood; and four brothers, Frank Hylton, Claude Hylton, Jess Hylton, and James Hylton. She is survived by one daughter, Susan C. Kirby, of Salem; a son, William H. Collins, of Blacksburg; a brother, William A. Hylton, of Columbia, Md.; six grandchildren, Susan Leigh Collins, Lynne Collins Canan, Sandra Collins Odend'hal, Shannon Collins Berry, Joe G. Kirby IV, and Susan Caroline Kirby; and five great-grandchildren. Having received a B.S. degree from Radford College in 1929, she taught in several school systems in the area, retiring from the Grayson County Schools in 1969. Graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday in Felts Memorial Cemetery with the Rev. Don Nation officiating. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m on Wednesday, at Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home.
