She spent her early years in Tansem Township, in Clay County, MN, where her parents farmed. She later moved with the family to the Clearbrook, MN area. In 1909, Emma was living in the Larimore, ND area. She married Ole C. Sather, on November 19, 1909 at Larimore. Ole was born September 16, 1885 to Ole and Olena Olson in Kongsvinger, Norway. He came to America at age 16.After their marriage, Emma and Ole lived in Hegton Township in Grand Forks County, ND for about three years. They then moved to the Bottineau, ND area where Ole farmed some land located in Section 8 of Whitteron Township. Their first home was 5 miles north of Bottineau. They later moved to a log house on the prairie. That home was completely destroyed by fire. Ole built another house. In 1947 Ole and Emma quit farming and moved into the town of Bottineau. They lived just north of the hospital. Ole was employed by the North Dakota School of Forestry as a custodian until his retirement. Ole and Emma had nine children, Hilda Bystrom, Ed Sather, Caroline Sehn, Ole Sather, Olga McLain, Art Sather, Mable Johnson, Alice Albritton and Francis Stanley. Emma died November 28, 1957. She was ill for about seven years before she passed away. She was a diabetic and suffered many strokes.Ole married Nora Wenstad on August 17, 1966 at Westhope, ND. Ole passed away February 27, 1971 at the age of 85. Nora died on January 22, 1976. Ole and Emma are buried at Oak Creek Cemetery in Bottineau. Contributor: Scott Sather
