Emma was born in Cumberland, MD, on August 20, 1920, to Charles B. Connor, Sr. and Esther N. Connor (Chandler). She graduated from Fort Hill High School in 1938, and entered the working world. On December 18, 1942, she married Warren H. Crawford and they had two daughters, Susan and Kimberly. Warren died in 1961 and Emma successfully raised her daughters alone. After spending her first 58 years in Cumberland, in 1978 Emma struck out on a new adventure and moved to the Washington, DC, suburbs to be closer to her daughters. Upon her arrival in Washington, she took a job in the accounting department at Hecht's and retired from the company in 1990. Emma was a proud member of Saint Luke Lutheran Church in Silver Spring, MD for the last 30 years. Emma is survived by her daughters, Susan N. Crawford of Silver Spring, MD, and Kimberly S. Crawford of Columbus, OH, and a special friend and "adopted" daughter, Michele R. Biery of Columbus, OH. Emma was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Charles B. Connor, Jr. and her husband. A funeral service will be conducted for Emma in the chapel at The Village in Rockville, 9701 Veirs Drive, Rockville, MD, on Wednesday, October 8, 2014, at 11:00 am with Pastor Connie A. Miller presiding. Interment will be in Hillcrest Burial Park in Cumberland, MD. If you wish to celebrate and honor Emma's life, in lieu of flowers, donations to either The Village at Rockville, 9701 Veirs Drive, Rockville, MD 20850 or the food pantry at Saint Luke Lutheran Church, 9100 Colesville Rd., Silver Spring, MD 20910 would be appreciated.
