"Betty" Brown, 82, of Gwynn's Island, Va., went to be with her Lord and Savior Thursday, Nov. 24, 2011. Betty was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, who devoted much of her time and energy as a caregiver to family members over the years. She was a member of Gwynn's Island Baptist Church and was loved by all who knew her. Betty was born to the late Cecil a. And mini May Stewart on April 22, 1929. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Lee Brown; and her brother, Garland Stewart. She is survived by one son, Ronald Lee Brown and wife, Diane; one daughter, Brenda B. Lewis and husband, Wayne; four granddaughters, Sheila B. Farmer (Robert), Carol B. Dehoux (Jerry), Sheryl L. Miller (John), and Darlene L. Jackson (Willie); great-grandchildren, Erika and Lindsey Brown, Zach Dehoux, Rachel Farmer Dehoux (Jonathan), Joanie Farmer, Amanda Miller, Amber and Alyson Jackson. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from seven to 8:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 26, 2011, at Foster-Faulkner Funeral Home, Mathews, Va. The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 27, 2011, in the funeral home chapel with a graveside service in Gwynn's Island Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Matthews Volunteer Rescue Squad or Gwynn's Island Baptist Church.
