Mrs. Monts was born in Richland County July 7, 1927 and passed away on Sunday, February 22, 2009. She was a daughter of the late David Walter Bouknight and Emma "Gussie" Hegmann Bouknight. Mrs. Monts was a member of St. Thomas Evangelical Lutheran Church for over 50 years. She received her education at Ballentine and Irmo, SC and began working at S.H. Kress in 1946. She was employed there until 1953, resigned with the title of Assistant Cashier. She went to work at First National Bank one week later, worked in various departments and eventually worked in the newly formed Trust Department. She attended classes at the University of South Carolina and was one of the first female bank officers in South Carolina. Mrs. Monts worked there until 1987 having attained the title of Vice President and Trust Officer. She retired in 1987 at the merging of First National Bank and what is now Wachovia Bank and Trust. Mrs. Monts enjoyed being a homemaker, sewing and working in her yard and garden. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary. Mrs. Monts is survived by her husband, Loyd Calvin Monts; brother, Willard Bouknight; nephews, David, Paul, Mark, James and Dan Bouknight and nieces, Mary Bouknight and Marie Waldrop and great-niece and nephews, and great-great-nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents; brothers, Fred A. Bouknight and John Michael Bouknight.
