Description	:	OBIT: Mrs. Emma Ellen Gardinier, 79, widow of the late Leslie J. Gardinier, Sr., died at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Uno (Harriet) Olson, here at 9:30 o'clock this morning. She had been in failing health. Born Emma Ellen Borden, Mrs. Gardinier was born at Leavenworth, Indiana, September 9, 1872, and made the covered wagon trip west across the Great Plains with her parents in the late 80s to Oregon. Born Emma Ellen Borden, Mrs. Gardinier was born at Leavenworth, Indiana, September 9, 1872, and made the covered wagon trip west across the Great Plains with her parents in the late 80s to Oregon. She came on to Ellensburg in 1891. A year later, she was married here, January 5, 1892. Her husband was then employed by the Northern Pacific Railroad. In the fall of 1893, she and Mr. Gardinier moved to Umatilla, Oregon, but returned to Ellensburg in the spring of 1895, to remain permanently in this community. Mrs. Gardinier and her husband operated the present High Valley Arm on the West Side in the Cove District until 1936. For the past several years, she has resided in the home of her daughter, Mrs. Olson, on the Kittitas Highway, where she died. Other near relatives surviving her include: four sons, Calvin S., Robert Y., and Leslie J. Gardinier, Jr., of Ellensburg; and Steven R. Gardinier of Mount Vernon; another daughter, Mrs. Alice Dielle of Shelton; two sisters, Mrs. J. H. Prater of Ellensburg, and Mrs. Charles Coffin of Mount Vernon; a brother, Zack Borden in California; seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
