Hucks CONWAY: Emma Hodges Hucks , 74, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away at home on Sunday, December 23, 2007. Emma was the daughter of the late Ethan and Thelma Cannon Hodges and wife to the late William B. Hucks Sr. of Conway. She had two children: a daughter, Emma Frances Grace and her husband, Lewis, of Lawrenceville, Ga. and a son, William B. Buddy Hucks Jr. and his wife, Wendy, of Conway. Emma was an excellent cook, who always made four times more than needed. No one could match her cooking, even with her recipes, which she generously gave out. She also loved to garden and often worked much too hard all summer long for vegetables so plentiful that she had to give them away. She loved being outdoors and staying busy. Many people know her from Belk Department Store, where she worked for many years until retirement, starting as a sales representative and eventually becoming a regional buyer. She was always impeccably dressed, beautiful inside and out, and more than anything, loved her family. She was a member of Union United Methodist Church in Conway. In addition to her children, Emma is survived by her grandchildren, Martha H. Anderson, Travis Hucks , Marie Bydlinski, Christine Grace, Faith Hucks and Greta Rabon; her great-grandchildren, Will Hucks , Jenna Hucks and Mallory Anderson; her two brothers, R.E. Hodges of Charleston and Alton Hodges of Jacksonville, Fla.; her seven sisters, Virginia Baker of Conway, Mary Frances McNeil of Nichols, Edna Burriss of Isle of Palms, Patsy Ahearn of Isle of Palms, Bonnie Gilbert of Maine, Joan Page of Pawleys Island and Janette Lewis of Myrtle Beach. A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Monday, December 24, 2007, from Union United Methodist Church with the Rev. Troy Metzner and the Rev. Steve Jordan officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery directed by Goldfinch Funeral Home, Conway Chapel. The family will receive friends from 12 noon until 2 p.m. Monday, December 24, 2007, at Union United Methodist Church prior to the funeral service.
