Emma and Clinton were the parents of 5 children: 1. Robert Orden Lewis; 2. Jessica Josephine "Jessie" Carley Kimrey Hacker Jacks; 3. Ida Mae Carely; 4. Leman Miah Carley; and 5. Laura "Beatrice" Carley Thompson Medcalf. Emma's mother Josephine died 17 Oct 1874 in Audubon County, IA. Her father remarried and had more children. Her father died in 1902 in Atlantic, IA. Emma died 16 Feb 1905 at Exira, IA. They lived near Oakfield at the time of Emma's death. According to relatives on Ancestry.com, she is believed to be buried in the old pioneers' Bowman cemetery near Oakfield, Audubon County, IA. [Her father-in-law and both of her parents are buried here]. Obituary clipping dated 2-23-1905, Audubon County Journal: "Emma F. Lewis was born near Hamlin Grove, Audubon county, Iowa February 28 1955, died February 16th, 1905, age 49 years, 11 months, 18 days. On October 25, 1863, she was married to C.L. Carley. To this union five children were born, three daughters and two sons, Mrs. Jessie Kimerly, of Atlantic, Mrs. Ida Spry Ord Carley and Milo Carley, of Oakfield, together with their families, the father and the daughter Beatrice remain to mourn the loss of a wife and mother. The family were all privileged to be at the bedside to administer and comfort in the last hours." (Original typo errors have been corrected at family trquest).
