EMMA BEER TAKEN SUDDENLY Well Known and Long Time Resident of County Was Stricken Critically Wednesday Stricken suddenly Mrs. Emma Beer died at her home in Cincinnati Sunday night at 9:30 o'clock. Mrs. Beer had been in failing health since January 1 but was not seriously ill until last Wednesday. The death of Mrs. Beer comes as a severe shock and brings deep sorrow to hundreds of friends and relatives. Emma Fuller, daughter of Isaac and Arminta Fuller, was born in Appanoose county on October 4, 1860, and spent her entire life of 79 years, four months and 21 days in the county of her birth. She united in marriage with Joseph Beer on October 3, 1878. To this union three children were born, one son and two daughters. She united with the Christian church at Mt. Olive when a young woman and was a charter member of the Cincinnati Christian church and was an active church worker as long as her health permitted. She was a woman of splendid character and her life has blessed many with whom she came in contact. Funeral services will be held in the Christian church at Cincinnati on Tuesday afternoon at 3:00 o'clock. Burial will be in the Pleasant Hill cemetery by the side of her husband, who preceded her in death on April 23, 1931. She leaves to mourn her passing, one son, M. H. Beer, of Centerville, and two daughters, Mrs. Chloie Harrison and Mrs. Edna White, of Cincinnati, besides six grandchildren, Paul Beer of Centerville, Joe Beer of Ottumwa, Misses Bessie and Norma Jean Harrison, Miss Murial Hanshew, who has been her constant companion for four years, and Chester Lee White, all of Cincinnati, and five great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends. __________________________________________________________ Centerville Daily Iowegian And Citizen, Centerville, Iowa, February 29, 1940 page 5 FUNERAL SERVICES AT CINCINNATI FOR MRS. BEER TUESDAY Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon from the Christian church for Mrs. Emma Beer, with the church being filled to over flowing with her many friends. Rev. H. E. Trimble of Centerville officiated and songs were by Robenia Sturdivant and Eva Harrison with Bonnie Staley at the piano. Among those from out-of-town were all the immediate family from Center-ville, Chester White, Ames, and Joe Beer and family of Ottumwa; also Mr. and Mrs. Lew Davidson, Mr. and Mrs. Hough Swearingen, Ethel Greenleaf, Rebecca Trigg, Mrs. Jim Spooner, Mrs. Wm.
