Mrs. Garrison was born near Farley, Dubuque county, Iowa, July 3rd, 1850, and was 68 years old at the time of her death. At the age of 17 years she was united in marriage to W.S. Garrison and lived with her husband in Cedar county and Hale Township, Jones County until 1893, when they removed to Wyoming, which has been the family home since. Five children, 3 sons and 2 daughters, were born and all living and present, except one son, at the funeral services. The funeral services were held at the family home, on Monday afternoon, conducted by Rev. DeBest and interment at Wyoming. * * * * * * * SOURCE: THE WYOMING JOURNAL, WYOMING, JONES CO, IA, JANUARY 11 1917, MRS. W.S. GARRISON 1850 - 1917 Emma J. DeCamp was born July 3, 1850, near Farley, Dubuque Co., Iowa, and passed to her eternal home from Wyoming, Iowa, on January 4, 1917, at five o'clock, having been, ill only twelve hours. She lived with her mother near Farley until February 17, 1867, when she was united in marriage to W. S. Garrison and moved to a farm near Clarence, Cedar Co. From there they went to Hale Township, Jones Co. in 1869, and remained until 1893 when they came to Wyoming where they have since resided. To this union were born five children, Henry L. of Boone, Iowa; Mrs. Hattie Miner of Claremont, California; Milo M of Minneapolis, Minnesota; William D. of Independence, Iowa; Mrs. Elsie Smith of Estherville, Iowa. All of the family were present at the funeral exercises, excepting William, whose ill health prevented his attendance. Four of her ten grandchildren were present, also, her two brothers, Marshall DeCamp of Littleton, Colorado; and Henry DeCamp of Yankton, South Dakota. She attended school at Epworth Seminary, and her religious-experience began at the Pleasant Valley Church in 1879 and continued with this church until 1893 when she united with the First Presbyterian Church of Wyoming. She was also a member of the Woman's Relief Corps at the latter place. During the last few years, she has attended very few public exercises because unable to hear well. Her greatest pleasure was her home which was always in order and ready for the members of her family, who, knew, that when ever they could come, mother would be there to welcome them. And her devoted husband by whose side she has toiled for fifty years, lacking one months and thirteen days, would have been surprised to come home and not find his faithful wife. The breaking up of a home where such loyalty and faithfulness have been, means more to the sorrowing family than they can yet realize. She had planned the funeral services to the smallest detail and requested the family to attend her to the edge of the grave where they could do no more.
