Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock, Mr. Louis Dierks, a well known and industrious young farmer of Bryant, and Miss Emma Kruse, the only remaining single daughter of Mr. & Mrs. John Kruse, highly respected residents of this city, were united in marriage by Rev. Hugo Grim at the Lutheran parsonage in Lyons. The ring ceremony was used. The bride wore a gown of white fancy silk crepe de claine trimmed in gold and carried a bouquet of bridal roses. The bridesmaid was Miss Meta Dierks, sister of the groom, and wore a dress of old rose chiffon taffeta and carried a bouquet of pink roses. The best man was Peter Kruse, brother of the bride, who wore a gray tailored suit. The groom wore a tailored suit of blue serge. Following the ceremony the wedding party returned to Preston where at the home of the bride's parents a wedding dinner was served at six o'clock. The dining room was decorated in rose pink and white with a white wedding bell adorning the center. Only near relatives were present, which made up a lively party however and spent several hours in games and various amusements. The best wishes of all were bestowed upon the bride and groom as the guests took their departure, for a long and happy life. Mr. & Mrs. Dierks will go to housekeeping on the Henningsen farm near Green Island after March 1st. They received a nice collection of useful presents. The Times joins in best wishes. CLINTON EMMA DIERKS Emma Dierks, 94, of 638 S. Bluff, died Wednesday at the Bluff Terrace Nursing Home. The funeral will be 9:30 a.m. Saturday at Zion Lutheran Church with the Rev. Stanley Peterson officiating. Visitation will be from 2 to 9 p.m. Friday at Pape Funeral Home and 9 a.m. until the service hour Saturday in the church. Burial will be in the Center Grove Cemetery, Bryant. Pallbearers will be grandsons Jim, Melvin and Michael Farley, David Buelow, Wayne Nelson and Kennard Kling. Mrs. Dierks was born May 24, 1892, in Lyons, to John and Christina Detlefsen Kruse. She married Louis Dierks, Feb. 7, 1916, in Lyons. He preceded her in death in 1962. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and the Naomi Circle of Zion Lutheran Church. She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Merle (Lorraine) Farley of Davenport; a son, Louis Dierks of Clinton; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by a son, two brothers and two sisters. Died Feb. 25, 1987.
