Deceased... Read More	MRS. LEO MATHER BURIED TODAY Died From Pneumonia After Nursing Her Three Small Children Through Siege of Influenza Mrs. Leo D. Mather, wife of Leo D. Mather, conductor on the C. M. & St. Paul railway running west of Mason City, died Sunday morning at eight o'clock at the Story hospital in Mason City according to a telegram received by L. P. Mather Sunday afternoon. Mrs. Mather's death was due to pneumonia following an attack of influenza with which she was stricken about a week ago, after nursing her three small children through a siege of influenza. Deceased was a native daughter of Clay county. Her maiden name was Emma Leone Achenbach and she was the second daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Achenbach, former well known citizens of Spencer, but now residing at Kuna, Idaho. She was born in November 1885. Here her girlhood days were spent, her education being received in the Spencer schools from which institution she graduated with the class of 1908. She was one of the successful teachers in the county schools following her graduation until her marraige to Mr. Mather, who was also born and raised in Spencer, on November 7, 1908. Directly following their marriage they went to Mason City where their entire married life has been spent. Mrs. Mather is survived by her husband and three small children. The latter are Margaret, aged nine years; Marion, aged eight years and John, aged four years. In addition to her immediate family, Mrs. Mather is survived by her parents, three brothers, two sisters, father and mother-in-law and sister-in-law. They are, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Achenbach of Kuna, Idaho; Dr. John Achenbach of St. Louis; Raymond and Fred Achenbach of Kuna, Idaho; Mrs. Howard Morgan of Washington, D. C.; Mrs. Will Brown of San Francisco, California; Mr. and Mrs. L. P. Mather of Spencer and Miss Floy Mather of Spencer. Mrs. Mather was a member of the Methodist church of Mason City. She was a good wife and mother and was especially devoted to her home, her husband and little ones and it is in the family circle and among her loved ones that she will be most missed. Her death comes as a shock to those who knew her well and they extend sympathy and condolence to the bereaved family. Mrs. Mather's body reached this city Tuesday evening and was taken to the Redfield and Cobb undertaking parlors from which place private funeral services conducted by Rev. F. C. Taylor were held this afternoon at three o'clock. Burial was made in Riverside cemetery. Published in The Spencer Reporter (Spencer, Iowa) on Wednesday, December 11, 1918.
