A devoted member of the Church of Christ, Emma was very involved in the Cortez and McElmo communities. She loved spending time in her garden, reading, canning for her family and doing needlework. Emma was well known for her peanut brittle; for many years she made all the peanut brittle for the Battle Rock Christmas parties. Surviving Emma are her children, Cammy DeVore and husband Dick of Cortez, James Riley and wife Terry of Salt Lake City, and Pat Riley and wife Robbie of Dolores; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild; and her sister, Kitty Halls of Cortez. Emma was preceded in death by her parents; by her husband, James W. Riley; by her infant daughter, Barbara Riley; and by her siblings, George Foster, Darrell Foster, Jessie Riley, Gladys Major, Buster Foster, Eddie Foster and Roger Foster.
