Description	:	Emma Louisa Kelso was born in Dubois county, Indiana, Sept 29, 1857 and died at the home of her son in New Market, Iowa September 3, 1940 at the age of 82 years, 11 months and five days. In her early youth she moved with her parents to Taylor county, Iowa where she grew to womanhood. In 1877 she was united in marriage to John S. Harris and to them six children were born. One died in infancy. Surviving are Ona Denny, of Coin, Iowa; Lenna Martin, Carroll, Iowa; Oren Harris, San Bernardino, California and Eldon and Herchel of New Market. She also leaves eight grandchildren and a great grandson together with one brother, H.V. Kelso of New Market. Mr Harris preceded her in death in 1926. Mrs Harris was one of Taylor county's pioneers, having moved here 75 years ago. In her life she saw this county develop from a bare wilderness to its present state. She enjoyed telling of her many experiences, the hardships and sorrows of pioneer life. Funeral services were from the home September 5, 1940 conducted by the Rev Mr Gatch.
