Read More	Emma Lydia Schmidt daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Christian Schmidt, died Sept. 27, 1898 and there Bonaparte, Ia. She was born near Bonaparte, Ia. Dec. 2nd, 1873. Her life was pure and noble, her character Christlike, ever patient, ready and willing to do good to others, forgetful of self and thinking of others needs. She was a faithful worker in Sabbath School. She was taught from infancy of Jesus, the Savior of mankind, and as she grew into womanhood, so also grew her love for the Savior and her faith in the home beyond. The study of her Bible was one of her great joys, and never was she known to care for what is usually termed light reading. At an early age she made a public stand for Christ and wanted to unite with the Methodist Church but her health would not permit so she went on probation at her home Sept. 16, 1898. Her sickness and suffering was long and severe. While unspeakably great was her pain, she bore it patiently and without a murmur. Word was sent to her brothers of her last severe illness, but it was impossible for them to reach her before her death. The nature of her disease was Ossis Sarcoma, of the Inferior Maxillary. It was very hard for her to leave the dear ones about her, but when she knew she had to go, she was ready and willing, and a few hours before her death she called her loving parents to her, told them that they the dear Savior was calling and she was willing and prepared to go. He has taken an obedient daughter and a devoted sister to rest. We have all faith that this precious one will hear the words of the master, "Well done my good and faithful servant, enter thou into the joy of the loop of the Lord" She leaves a heart broken father and mother, three sisters and five brothers, with other relatives and a large circle of friends to mourn her loss.
