Read More	Taken from the Le Mars Sentinel, Le Mars, Iowa, Tuesday, November 4, 1924 PIONEER WOMAN DIES Mrs. Emma Engeldinger Was Well Known In This Vicinity Alton Democrat: Mrs. Emma Engeldinger, Nee Emma Masuen, was born at Harlingen, Luxemburg, August 31, 1960, where she lived until twenty years of age when, in company with her father, she came to America. They were later joined by the rest of the family. In the fall of 1882 she was united in marriage to Peter Engeldinger, at Le Mars, and settled on a farm six miles south of Alton, where she resided until two years ago when she made her home with her daughter, Mrs. Mike Zenk, two miles east of Alton. Mrs. Engeldinger was the mother of nine children, John, Mrs. Frank Hemmen, Mrs. George Jungers, Mike, Emil, Mrs. Mike Zenk, Mrs. Joe Joanning, and two dying in infancy. Three sisters and two brothers also survive her, Mrs. Emil Golden of Hospers, Mrs. Math Golden of Lansing, Mich.; Mike Masuen, Granville, Mrs. Joe Remacle of Cottonwood, Idaho, and John Masuen of Clinton, Iowa. Mrs. Engeldinger was highly esteemed by a large circle of friends in this community and held an enviable place in the hearts of all who knew her. She was a true Christian woman of splendid character and many fine qualities and true friends to the many fortunate enough to know her. She was laid to rest beside her husband, who preceded her to the beyond six years ago, at St. Mary's cemetery. The funeral was held Tuesday morning at 9:30 o'clock from St. Mary's church, Very Rev. F. J. Brune officiating.
