Description	:	Emma Rebecca McIntyre, daughter of James and Mary Grames McIntyre, was born in Allentown, Pa., July 14, 1874 where her father was superintendent of the Hockenqacque Steel Mills. When a small child her parents moved to Omaha where they lived for a number of years, here she attended school in her early years. Read More	Emma Rebecca McIntyre, daughter of James and Mary Grames McIntyre, was born in Allentown, Pa., July 14, 1874 where her father was superintendent of the Hockenqacque Steel Mills. When a small child her parents moved to Omaha where they lived for a number of years, here she attended school in her early years. At the age of 12 the family moved from Omaha to Elgin where her father had land. She grew to young womanhood and at the age of 17 she married Wm. McKay, son of a neighboring family. The two families were friends from early pioneer days. Mr. and Mrs. McKay resided at Elgin for a short time where Mr. McKay owned and operated a black smith shop, they later disposed of these interest, moving to Petersburg where they lived for a number of years where Mr. McKay also had a blacksmith shop. In 1896 they moved to Albion where the family resided until the time of Mr. McKay’s death ten years ago. Mr. and Mrs. McKay were the parents of four children. Florence B. now Mrs. Philip Parker of Cedar Rapids; Edwin C. McKay, Snyder; Leslie B. McKay, Cedar Rapids and Pansye L. now Mrs. Wm. J. Rothenberger of Allentown, Pa., by coincidence the birthplace of her mother. Mrs. McKay had six grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Since the time of Mr. McKay’s death, Mrs. McKay has made her home at Cedar Rapids with her son Leslie. Mrs. McKay was a faithful wife and a good mother. She is the last of a family of nine, her brothers and sisters, all having preceded her in death. Mrs. McKay passed away Monday evening, August 23 at the Thompson nursing home at St. Edward. Funeral services were held Friday afternoon August 27 at the Methodist church with Rev. E. S. Pangburn conducting the services and the remains were laid to rest in the Rose Hill cemetery at Albion beside her husband. The pallbearers were Francis Vandewalle, Earl Gibb, A. J. Faust, Henry Richards, Arthur Primrose and G. M. Cox. Among those attending the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Paul McKay and Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Miller and Russell McIntyre of Elgin, Mr. and Mrs. George McKay and Mr. and Mrs. Arthur McKay and son Jerry of St. Edward. (Albion Weekly News – Albion, Nebraska – September 2, 1948)
