Description	:	Mother was born September 27, 1906, and given the name Emma Rose by her parents Otis W. and Florence Isabelle Davidson Propst. At this time the family resided in Vale, Oregon. Mother was baptized at the age of 8 in the waters of Bully Creek, which flowed behind the family home. Her life reflected the teachings of the R.L.D.S. Church of which she was a member for 75 years. Read More	Mother was born September 27, 1906, and given the name Emma Rose by her parents Otis W. and Florence Isabelle Davidson Propst. At this time the family resided in Vale, Oregon. Mother was baptized at the age of 8 in the waters of Bully Creek, which flowed behind the family home. Her life reflected the teachings of the R.L.D.S. Church of which she was a member for 75 years. Upon graduation from Vale High School, Mother came to Lamoni, Iowa to attend Graceland College. Two of her brothers were already in Lamoni, so the Propst family moved here. Mother left Graceland to teach Home Ec. in Indianola, Iowa. Mother taught in a rural school near I.amoni. On May 22, 1932 Mother married Joseph Shakespeare. They made their home on a farm south of Evergreen. Two daughters Florence Jane Elston of Kayenta, AZ, and me, Rose Marie Silsby of Lamoni, were born to this marriage. Upon the death of Daddy in 1943, we moved to town and lived with Mother's parents. Mother eventually returned to Graceland to finish her schooling. After graduation Mother taught at North Harrison School in Eagleville, Mo. After 16 years of teaching third grade there, Mother retired. In 1978 Mother married Joe Carr; this marriage gave her three stepdaughters. Joe and Mother enjoyed three years of companionship. Mother and Don Moffet were married in 1987. Don took good care of Mother and treated her kindly during her last years of life. Mother enjoyed gardening. She would share her produce with others. She also had many flowers In her yard, her favorite being red roses. She was always ready to help those who needed an extra hand; staying with someone sick, giving a ride to town, or helping clean house. Mother has six grandchildren; Ray Kaler; in Germany, Greg Elston of Leon, Barbara Kenn of Bethany, Mo., Jeff Elston of Portland, Oregon, Rhonda Mickelson of Lamoni, and Rovawn Elston of Portland, Oregon. She was "grandma' to many other children who needed her love, interest, support, and affection. Mother was an aunt and mother in times of need to many nieces' and nephews' lives. As each one would marry she would crochet an afghan for them. She was proud as each great-niece or nephew was born. Mother had pride in her great-grandchildren. The joy she show as each new great-grandbaby was placed in her arms made the new parents proud to have her as a grandma. Mother has six great-grandchildren; Matthew and Travis Elston, Nathan and Matthew Mickelson, Jami and Cody Kerns. Mother was preceded in death by her parents; husbands Joseph Shakespeare and Joe Carr; and four brothers, Alma, Lester, Lawrence, and Ham. She is survived by her husband Don; two daughters, Rose Marie and Florence Jane; two sisters, Ellen and Nina; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; sisters-in-law, Marjorie Shakespeare, Ethel Propst, and Cecil Propst; and a host of friends. Mother will be missed by those who she touched and loved. She will always be remembered for her caring ways. We love you, Mother. Funeral services were held at 10:00 an. March 16, 1990 at the Lamoni R.L.D.S. Church, Lamoni, Iowa with Dale Patemo officiating. Burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery, Lamoni. Services were conducted by Slade - O'Donnell Funeral Home.
