Description	:	Emma Jensen, 92, of Platte, SD passed away Tuesday, May 7, 2013 at the Platte Health Center. Funeral Services are 2:00 P.M. Monday, May 13, 2013 at the Olive Presbyterian Church in Platte. A Committal Service will follow at the Platte City Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the church one hour prior to services on Monday. Emma Rose (Schutte) Jensen was born on January 28, 1921 to Fred and Josephine (Schwers) Schutte on the Schwers homestead west of Platte, SD. She attended country school and graduated from Platte High School in 1940. After graduation, she worked for Eastman Drug until April of 1942 when she relocated to California and was united in marriage to Alvin Jensen on April 19, 1942 in Yuma, AZ. She was employed at Consolidated Aircraft Corporation until WW2 ended. Emma and Alvin then moved back to Platte where they opened a shoe store. Their happiness was complete when they adopted their son Kirk in 1957. They owned and operated the store until retiring in 1984. Emma was a hard worker and enjoyed working at the Platte Care Center and helping Kirk at the shoe store. She was a member of the Olive Presbyterian Church and Campbell-Timmerman American Legion Auxiliary in Platte. Grateful for having shared in Emma's life: her son, Kirk Jensen and wife, Courtleen (Haussman) of Platte, SD; her two grandchildren: Sarah (Alexandre Cunha) of Caldas Da Rainha, Portugal and Carter Jensen of Brooking, SD; and her sister, Jennie (Schutte) Sudrla of Platte, SD. Emma was preceded in death by: her husband, Alvin (Nov. 11, 1989); her parents, Fred and Josephine; and a brother-in-law, Frank Sudrla.
