Description	:	When someone is good at a task, it is difficult to escape continuing it, and so it was with Emma Jensen and her role as an officer of the Order of Eastern Star in Timber Lake. She was born March 9, 1926, to Emmanuel and Christina (Fischer) Singer on their farm near Timber Lake. She attended the Timber Lake School system and graduated from Timber Lake High School in 1945. On Sept. 16, 1946, she married Lauris Jensen, who had also grown up on a farm near Timber Lake. After getting their wedding license in Selby, they were married in Mobridge and went on to make their home on a farm near Timber Lake where they specialized in raising corn. They retired in 1972, sold their farm and moved into Timber Lake. Lauris died Dec. 12, 1998. Emma was a member of the Order of Eastern Star and the American Legion Auxiliary. Survivors are her daughter, Donna (Phil) Fitzgerald of Fargo, N.D.; one sister, Martha Wicht of Randall, Minn.; and two brothers, Albert Singer of Hawaiian Gardens, Calif., and Arthur Singer of Mandan N.D. In addition to her husband Lauris, two brothers, John and Adolph Singer, and her parents preceded Emma in death. Funeral services for Emma were Friday, Feb. 1, at Kesling Funeral Home in Mobridge. Burial will take place at a later date at the Timber Lake Cemetery under the direction of Kesling Funeral Home. Mobridge Tribune February 6, 2008
