Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. MST today at the chapel of Seibel Funeral Home, Hazen. Emma was born the daughter of Otto and Molly (Meissel) Tschaekofske on March 13, 1915, in rural Hazen. She grew up and attended rural school in the area. Following her schooling, Emma worked at various homes, helping with the daily chores. On Jan. 24, 1939, Emma married Benjamin Neumann in Krem. Together, the couple farmed near Mannhaven until 1947, when they moved to Stanton and continued farming. Benjamin died on Sept. 23, 1990. Emma lived on the farm until 1989, when she moved to Stanton. Later in July of 1997, she moved to the Senior Suites in Hazen, where she resided until her death. Emma enjoyed gardening and growing flowers, embroidering, and also quilting. She especially loved and cared for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Emma is survived by two daughters, Jeanette Sailer, Stanton, and Janice LaRocque, Canton, Ohio; one son, James Neumann, Bismarck; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; one brother, Edwin Tschaekofske; and three sisters, Elsie Specht, Hilda Evans and Irene Brenno. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Benjamin; one brother; two sisters and two grandsons. (Seibel Funeral Home, Hazen)
