Description	:	Mrs. Emma Tarrell died at the home of her daughter. Mrs. A. H. Moser at Vermillion, Sunday after an illness of only a week. She seemed in her usual health and good spirits up to the time whenshe suffered a stroke, which left her partly paralyzed, although her mind was dear at times when she recognized her loved ones and was able to make her desires known. Read More	Mrs. Emma Tarrell died at the home of her daughter. Mrs. A. H. Moser at Vermillion, Sunday after an illness of only a week. She seemed in her usual health and good spirits up to the time whenshe suffered a stroke, which left her partly paralyzed, although her mind was dear at times when she recognized her loved ones and was able to make her desires known. Her children had all reached her bedside, the last one, Thomas, arriving just a short time before she went into a sleep which had no awakening except on the eternal shores. All that loving hands could do was done but the death angel would not be denied. Hers was a life of beautiful consecration to her loved ones and others. Reared in a Christian atmosphere, she early became a follower of Christ and through all her years it was her aim and desire to be right and do right. Her family, her friends, her neighbors and all who knew her have seen the fruitage of Christian principles. To her children she was all a mother could be, their welfare always uppermost. Living in and near Ireton where they were among the early settlers she was known only to be respected. Besides her family, her church was always foremost and the older members of the congregation where she was for so many years a loyal member can only speak the very best for the departed. Mrs. Emma Tarrell was born in Shullsburg, Wisconsin Dec. 11, 1857, Her parents were Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Webb, her mother's name being Mary Warner. She was reared near the place of her birth, growing to young womanhood there and was married to Thomas R. Wills March 21, 1878. They lived on a farm near Cuba City, Wis., until they moved to Iowa, locating on a farm north of Ireton in 1883. They farmed in Ireton for some time and lived in Ireton for a number of years. Mr. Wills passed away in June 1909. In 1910 she was married to Samuel Tarrell and they made their home in Canistota, S.D. where Mr. Tarrell passed away in 1922. Since his death, she spent the winters with her daughter, Ellen Marene Moser, who resides in Vermillion. Two brothers survive her, E.J. Webb of Burbank, Calif. and Frank Webb of Belmont, Wisc. Three brothers and three sisters proceeded her in death. Five children mourn the death of their mother: Thomas R. Wills of Rochester, Minn., Clyde C. Wills of Ireton, Ellen Marene Moser of Vermillion, S.D., Ernest J. Wills of Dallas, S.D., Vern W. Wills of Reedsburg, Wisc., ; five step-children, Clarence and Lloyd Tarrell and Mrs. John Parson of Canistota, S.D., Melvin Tarrell of Ireton, and Mrs. Nellie Thomas of Sioux City. She also leaves 23 grandchildren, 15 step-grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. She was an active member of the Methodist church in Ireton during the years she lived here, taking her letter to Canistota where she was always doing more than her part of the work in the Methodist church there. Whenever she came to Ireton for a visit Sunday found her in her church and Sunday School which she loved. Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon from the home of her son, C.C. Wills, at 1:30 and from the Methodist church at 2 o'clock with Rev. C.W. Tompkins in charge. A large gathering of friends and neighbors joined the relatives in paying their last tribute of respect. Beautiful floral offerings cast their beauty and fragrance. She had reached the age of 76 years, 1 month and 3 days. The pallbearers were grandsons Leslie and Russell Moser, Hollis, Cecil and Morris Wills, and a grand-son-in-law, R Whalen.
