JOHN BUMANN Grand Mound May 16 - The community was saddened when the news of the death of Mrs. John Bumann, became known to the people. Several were aware of her illness, but few realized that her condition was so critical. She was taken sick last Tuesday night and medical aid was immediately administered, but on Saturday a change for the worse, manifested itself. Everything known to medical science was done, but despite the best of care and almost superhuman efforts of the physicians, she passed peacefully away, at noon Monday. Emma Wilka Elsa Singleman, was born on Feb. 17, 1881, at Jarrenwisch, Weselburen Holstein Germany. When but 3 weeks old, she with her parents emigrated to America. After a three weeks trip upon the water, they continued their journey and settled in Walcott, Scott County, where the family lived on a farm for about five months. They moved to Rock Island and resided there, until deceased was 11 years of age, when they moved to Clinton County, upon the farm, where the parents are still located. Emma Singleman, was united in marriage with John Bumann, of this place on October 29, 1902, and since that time this place has been their home. Four children were born to this union and they, with a sorrowing husband are left to mourn the death of a kind and loving mother. Deceased is also survived by her parents, Mr and Mrs George Singleman; two brothers, John and Henry, and three sisters, Matilda and Bertha at home and Mrs Anna Baker, of Walcott The sympathy of the entire neighborhood goes out to those bereaved in this hour of sorrow.
