She was the daughter of the late Hiram and Lula Pittman Wright. She died Saturday, October 13, 2012 in Columbia, Adair County, KY at the age of 86 years. 1 month, and 23 days. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Osby Lloyd, her son, Larry Lloyd and a grandson, Dwayne Lloyd. Ms. Lloyd was postmistress of the Cundiff Post Office for over 37 years and was a member of Melson Ridge Separate Baptist Church. Survivors include: Two daughters: Beverly (Phillip) Burton and Glenda Snow all of Columbia, KY Five grandchildren: Wesley Melson, Brandon Bloyd, Bridgette, Derek and Amanda Lloyd Five great grandchildren One step great grandchild And two step great great grandchildren By Cynthia Melson Emma Wright Lloyd was a very faithful and loving woman. She was loved by not only her family but by everyone who knew her. She was a blessing in so many ways. She grew up in hard times. She lost her parents at a very young age and was taken in by another family, Lorin and Annie Hadley. Emma was married to Osby Lloyd and raised three children: Larry, Beverly and Glenda. She worked very hard taking care of her family. She raised a garden every year she could and worked as the Postmistress for 37 1/2 years. She started in what was one of the oldest Adair County post offices in southeastern Adair County. The post office was originally called Cape but was changed to Cundiff when the late R.C. Cundiff was postmaster for many years. She started at the age of 26 and continued working there for 37 1/2 years when the doors closed for the last time on Friday, June 29, 1990, and the post office was closed. Emma was very faithful in attending church at the Melson Ridge Separate Baptist church until her health wouldn't allow it anymore. Even later when she lived at Summit Manor nursing home, she loved hearing the gospel and the music from the visiting churches in the community. God blessed all of us for several years with our time with her and we feel that she has now received her blessings from the Lord Jesus where she has gone home to stay. - Cynthia Melson From Columbia Magazine
