Silha Funeral Home of Wibaux has been entrusted with the arrangements. Emajean was born on May 12, 1923 in Beach, North Dakota to her parents, Edward and Elizabeth (Sura) Jendro. She was raised and educated in Golva, North Dakota. Following her education, Emajean worked as a housekeeper and nanny. It was during this time that she met Wilbur Chaffee, who would become her husband. Emajean and Wilbur were united in marriage on August 25, 1941 in Glendive, Montana. To this union two sons were born. They lived on the Chaffee Farm east of Wibaux where Emajean raised her boys, took care of the house and helped on the farm. Emajean also worked at the Wibaux County Nursing Home as a cook for several years where she earned "Employee of the Quarter" in January 1980. Emajean was an amazing, beautiful person, who enjoyed cooking, baking, gardening, taking care of calves and her chickens. Emajean had a "heart of gold". She loved to visit and no one left her house without having coffee and some of her homemade treats that she always had. Emajean volunteered at church and was a Sunday School Teacher for many years, only "retiring" from this when she needed more time at home to care for her husband following his stroke. She loved watching baseball and football, cheering for her favorite teams, the Chicago Cubs and Denver Broncos. Most of all, Emajean cherished her family and loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Emajean was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Wilbur; three brothers, Clifford, Dayton and Irving Jendro; five sisters, Lillian Feldmann, Delaine Helvik, Angela Kennedy, Vonda Stull and Adeline Johnson.
