Description	:	Emmett Anthony Schwenke was born August 15, 1908 to Anton F. and Mary Sullivan Schwenke on a farm near Denton. He died December 30, 1983 in Lincoln at the age of 75 years. Emmett moved with his parents and brother, Ambrose, to Lincoln in 1912 and attended Lincoln schools. For many years as a young man he was associated with the Modern Cleaners in Lincoln. Read More	Emmett Anthony Schwenke was born August 15, 1908 to Anton F. and Mary Sullivan Schwenke on a farm near Denton. He died December 30, 1983 in Lincoln at the age of 75 years. Emmett moved with his parents and brother, Ambrose, to Lincoln in 1912 and attended Lincoln schools. For many years as a young man he was associated with the Modern Cleaners in Lincoln. In 1929 he moved to Wahoo and owned and operated the Live Wire Cleaners. In 1934 on July 19 he married Helen Irene Grimes of Wahoo. They made their home in Lincoln and in 1938 he began farming east of Denton. In 1949 they moved with their son, Thomas to a new farm home near Denton. Emmett spent the remaining years farming and raising Hereford cattle. He was very active in 4-H activities along with his son. As a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Denton, he served on the Building Committee in 1961 planning the new church and held many offices in Father Moran Men's Club, parish trustee, parish council, Bishop Casey Lay Committee, and the Diocesan Development Program. Survivors are his wife, Helen; son, Thomas G. and grandchildren, Jonathan and Margaret of Rye, New York; and a brother, Ambrose (Jack) of Hobbs, New Mexico. The Mass of the Resurrection was held in St. Mary's Catholic Church at Denton on January 2, 1984 with Rev. Liam Barr and Very Rev. James D. Dawson, V.G. concelebrating. Miss Ginger Cvitak was the organist St. Mary's Choir sang and Les Mach was the reader. Servers were John Petsche, Jamie Phipps, Brad Sullivan, and Paul Soucie. Pallbearers were Michael Cvitak, John Hetcko, Joseph Fraas, Donald I. Sullivan, Joseph Honvlez, and David Petsche. Interment was in the Denton Cemetery. Source: The Crete News, January 11, 1984
