Description	:	Scott Valley native Emmett Clinton Mackey passed away on June 22, 2016 at his home in Etna. He was 86 years old. Emmett was born on October 8, 1929 near Callahan to Robert E. and Nellie A. Mackey. Emmett attended McConaughy one room school and later graduated from Etna Union High School. Emmett enlisted and served in the U.S. Army, and had the honor of being chosen to march with the Army Engineer Corp of Fort Belvoir, Virginia, in the inaugural parade for President Harry S. Read More	Scott Valley native Emmett Clinton Mackey passed away on June 22, 2016 at his home in Etna. He was 86 years old. Emmett was born on October 8, 1929 near Callahan to Robert E. and Nellie A. Mackey. Emmett attended McConaughy one room school and later graduated from Etna Union High School. Emmett enlisted and served in the U.S. Army, and had the honor of being chosen to march with the Army Engineer Corp of Fort Belvoir, Virginia, in the inaugural parade for President Harry S. Truman on January 20, 1949. He also helped reactivate the 801st Engineer Aviation Battalion, which was sent to Goose Bay, Labrador, to rebuild the air field which was one of the busiest airfields in the world during the Cold War. After receiving his honorable discharge from the Army, Emmett returned to Etna and went to work driving log trucks. On December 19, 1952 Emmett married the love of his life, Dorothy Wallace, in Reno, Nevada. The couple were married for 55 wonderful years before Dorothy passed away in 2008. Emmett is survived by his niece, Noralee Walter. At Emmett’s request, no services will be held. Emmett will be inurned in the Etna Cemetery alongside Dorothy, where they will be together forever.
