Emmett was born July 14, 1957 in Sumter, SC to Julian Emmett and Frances McDaniel Sanders. He attained the title of Eagle Scout at the age of 17 and graduated from the University of South Carolina with a bachelor’s degree in both history and geography. Read More	Emmett Preston Sanders July 14, 1957 - May 27, 2020 Emmett Preston Sanders, 62, of Hagood, SC died May 27, 2020 at a hospital in Columbia with his wife by his side. Emmett was born July 14, 1957 in Sumter, SC to Julian Emmett and Frances McDaniel Sanders. He attained the title of Eagle Scout at the age of 17 and graduated from the University of South Carolina with a bachelor’s degree in both history and geography. Emmett was a volunteer fireman for around 30 years as well as a volunteer with The Red Cross. He was a 4th degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do, and was also a very active member in the Catholic Church. Emmett loved traveling the globe with his wife, scuba diving, all types of trivia, Civil War reenacting, and he always loved a good joke. Emmett is survived by his wife, Patrice Schaum Sanders, 2 daughters, and 7 grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Elizabeth Rietz, and 6 nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Julian Emmett Sanders Jr. and Frances McDaniel Sanders, his brother, Julian Emmett Sanders III, and his sister, Frances McDaniel Sanders Wooten. Rest easy now Emmett, you will be missed. A private graveside service will be held at Church of the Ascension in Rembert, SC. Father John Zimmerman will officiate.
