Description	:	Emmitt R. Cox, 81, of Burnsville, Minn., and formerly of Sioux City, died Friday, Oct. 13, 1989, in Fairview Ridges Hospital in Burnsville. Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday in Christy Morningside Funeral Home with Dr. Ronald M. Unser of St. James United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery with military graveside rites conducted by Morningside Post 697, American Legion. Mr. Cox was born Sept. 26, 1908, in Holly Springs, Iowa, and spent his early years on a farm near Hinton, Iowa. He moved to Sioux City in 1930 and married Leone Robbins Shippy July 5, 1938. She died Aug. 3, 1962, in Sioux City. He worked as a maintenance foreman for the Sioux City Water Department from March 14, 1934, until his retirement Aug. 31, 1973. He moved to Burnsville in March 1984. Mr. Cox was baptized at First Baptist Church in Sioux City and was a former member of Glendale Baptist Church In Sioux City. He served in the U. S. Navy during World War II. Survivors include a stepdaughter, Hope Heffernan of St. Louis, Mo.; a stepson, Zane Shippy of Burnsville, Minn.; six grandchildren; one great-grandson; four sisters, Mildred Peters and Maurine Soloman, both of Sioux City, Masel Brown of Anthon, Iowa, and Darlene Guerin of Colorado Springs, Colo., and a brother, Jay Cox of Hutchinson, Kan.
