Burial in the Prairie View Cemetery near Gilman. Enid Lucille Sampson was the daughter of Theodore Russell and Viola Koch Sampson. She lived on farms near Webster, North English and the Koch family farm near Delta. She attended the Burr Oak School and graduated from Delta High School. Enid earned a BA Degree from Central College in Pella, Iowa and attended Iowa State University for graduate work. She taught home economics, math and science at Lacey, Gilman and Gladbrook schools. She was a chaperone for the Gilman girl's basketball team. She was married to Neven B Crandon on June 24, 1856 at the United Methodist Church in Delta. To this union were born; Linda, Christina, Robert, Cynthia and Sheryl. They lived and farmed the Crandon family farm near Gilman for over 55 years. Enid worked at the Mayflower Community as a cook and later as Food Service Director from 1978 to 1993. She was an active member of the Gilman Community Church and served on the church's board of directors, the ladies guild and teaching Sunday school and bible school. She was also a Cub Scout den mother and a member of the Onyx Chapter #350 of Eastern Star. Enid was honored for her 15 years of leadership for the Gilman StarShiners 4-H Club. Enid had a great love for her family and attending family activities was always important to her. She and Neven enjoyed taking the family on day-long road trips throughout the state of Iowa. In their retirement years they traveled to their condos but she always looked forward to returning home. She enjoyed sewing, reading, gardening and cooking. Enid will always be remembered for her delicious yeast rolls and bountiful family dinners.
