Description	:	Enoch Heber Huntting was born in Dexter, Maine, December 3, 1832. He emigrated with his parents to Ohio in 1850, where he resided until 1856, when with many others, a removal was made to Kansas. Mr. Huntting joining in the struggle against slavery, later enlisted in Company I, 5th Kansas cavalry, serving three years in the civil war. He was married to Jennie E. Hale in Olathe, Kansas, September 20, 1867. To this union were born four children, two daughters and two sons, the daughters having passed to the great beyond previous to the... Read More	Enoch Heber Huntting was born in Dexter, Maine, December 3, 1832. He emigrated with his parents to Ohio in 1850, where he resided until 1856, when with many others, a removal was made to Kansas. Mr. Huntting joining in the struggle against slavery, later enlisted in Company I, 5th Kansas cavalry, serving three years in the civil war. He was married to Jennie E. Hale in Olathe, Kansas, September 20, 1867. To this union were born four children, two daughters and two sons, the daughters having passed to the great beyond previous to the death of the father. One son and his wife were at the bedside during the illness of Mr. Huntting, while the other was in San Francisco. Mr. Huntting and family emigrated to the Pacific coast in 1992 and in the following year settled on the Palouse river, engaging in the stock business. In 1889 the family moved to Colfax and two years later built and has since conducted the Union lodging house. Mr. Huntting had been in ill health for nearly a year. On July 19 he was stricken with paralysis, but recovered the use of his limbs and speech. The funeral was conducted from the family home, Rev. H. S. Black of the Baptist church officiating, in connection with the Grand Army of the Republic, of which deceased was a member.
