Walker, 22, Was Pilot of Dive Bomber in Which a Gunner Also Died Ensign John P. Walker, son of Mr. and Mrs. Preston V. Walker of Anabel, was killed in a plane crash yesterday afternoon at Trincenn Anne, Virginia. A gunner, whose name was not given, was also killed. Ensign Walker, who was 22 years of age on October 13, was pilot of a dive bomber stationed at Norfolk, Virginia. Notification of his death came to his parents first by telephone from a naval officer at the Norfolk base and shortly after a telegram followed. However, no details of the accident were given at the time. Ensign Walker was graduated from the Naval Air Training Center at Corpus Christi, Texas, May 12 and was commissioned an ensign in the U. S. Naval Reserve at that time. He is well known here and has many friends. He attended the University of Missouri for 3 years before he enlisted in the Naval Reserve and on June 4 he was married to Miss Mary Walterine Bomar of Paris, Tennessee, a graduate of Christian College, Columbia, with the class of 1942.
