Description	:	Ensign Samuel Danielson was one of the wealthiest men in Connecticut during much of the 18th Century. He inherited thousands of acres of prime Connecticut farmland, including most of what is now Danielson, CT. According to New Shoreham town records Samuel was the son of James Danielson and Mary Cuck (sp?). When he was about 5-years-old Samuel moved with his family from New Shoreham, Block Island, Rhode Island, to their new home in Killingly, Connecticut. When he was about 5-years-old Samuel moved with his family from New Shoreham, Block Island, Rhode Island, to their new home in Killingly, Connecticut. On 26 Mar 1725 Samuel married Sarah Douglas, daughter of Deacon William Douglas and Sarah Proctor. Together Samuel and Sarah had eleven children of whom four lived to adulthood. His first wife died 29 Mar 1774. On 26 Oct 1774 Samuel married, second, to Sarah Spaulding. Samuel was said to have had an unblemished reputation. He served as ensign for the military company for the south side of Killingly, CT. In March, 1725, Samuel and his new wife Sarah were admitted to the North Killingly Congregational Church. Samuel was an active member of his church. In 1741 on behalf of the church he petitioned the General Assembly, in accordance with the laws of the time, to appoint a committee to select a location for a new church meetinghouse. For several years he also served as a justice of the peace in Windham County. Samuel's sons, Col. William Danielson and Capt. Samuel Danielson, both served with distinction in the American Revolution. Children (in addition to those listed in familylinks below): Priscilla Danielson, b 1737 died young.
