Description	:	Ephraim Clark James, 77, long time resident of Waverly, died at his home in Waverly Tuesday, Aug 29, 1939. He had been ill for six months. He was born in Cole county Illinois, January 3, 1862 son of Andrew and Sophia James. He moved to Waverly with his parents when he was four years old and had lived here since. He married Laura Ann Giffin on January 3, 1887, at Waverly. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church in Waverly. He married Laura Ann Giffin on January 3, 1887, at Waverly. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church in Waverly. He is survived by the widow, two children Elmer Leslie James of Waverly and Carl Andrew James of Toronto, Kansas. One sister Mrs Sadie Ward of Turner, Kansas three grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Funeral services were held at the Waverly Presbyterian Church this afternoon, Thursday at 2 o'clock, Rev. Orlo Choguill of the Presbyterian Church in Emporia officiating. Interment was in the Waverly cemetery. A quartet composed of Kenneth Parmely, R.B. McDuffie, R.E. Gumn, and Frank Mathis with Mrs Ervin Williams as pianist, furnished the music. Pall bearers were Claude Richardson, J.E.Parmely, Bert Kelly, Carl Hetsel, E.P. Atteberry and F.H. Saxton.
