Read More	Excerpt from Past and Present of Marshall County, Iowa, Vol. 2, pg 1109 [provided by contributor, Rbt Fahey] Ephraim Bueghly grew up and was educated in his native county, and he came to Marshall county, Iowa, with his parents, November 2, 1865, and entered the high school at Liscomb, later attending the seminary at Albion, then entered the academy at Iowa City and attended the first term taught at the State Normal at Cedar Falls. Thus well equipped for the career of teacher, which he had decided upon in early life, he followed that vocation with pronounced success for a period of fourteen years, being popular with both pupil and patron and won first rank among the eminent educators of central Iowa. He was principal of the schools at Grundy Center and Black Hawk, Iowa. Finally leaving the school room, he turned his attention to farming, buying two hundred and eighty acres of the old homestead, which his widow still owns. He kept the place well improved and under a high state of cultivation, and by close application to his work and good management he made a pronounced success of general farming and stock raising, becoming one of the substantial and influential men of his township. Politically, he was a Republican, and always interested in public affairs, and was ever ready to do his full share in promoting the general interests of his locality. He served very faithfully and creditably as township trustee, was township committeeman, and he was a candidate for supervisor, but was defeated. He was a member of the Christian church and a liberal supporter of the same. Mr. and Mrs. Bueghly had no children, but they reared two boys: Frank Black, now living at Marshalltown, was educated at the Liscomb high school; he is a member of the firm of the Marshalltown Auto Company, but maintains his residence in Liscomb with his mother; Robert Black was educated in the Iowa State Agricultural College at Ames, and he is now with the Waterloo Gasoline Engine Company at Waterloo, Iowa.
