A husband's life of devotion to his invalid wife ended Friday evening. Within a few hours of each other, Mr. and Mrs. Ephraim Silver, aged and well known couple of Ninevah, passed away, and with their passing ended a sad life-drama. For 10 years Mrs. Silver, aged 78, had suffered from asthma, being confined to her home. Mr. Silver scarcely ever left the house, but remained solicitious of his wife's illness to the last. Friday evening Mrs. Silver who had been seriously ill during the week, passed quietly away; shortly after seven o'clock. Shorly after, Mr. Silver, who was 82 years of age, came downstairs to ask those in attendance how his wife was. He, too, had been sick. He had a lamp in his hand and no sooner asked the question than he dropped the lamp and fell to the floor in a semi-conscious condition. He died shortly after, never regaining consciousness. His wish, once expressed, that he would die when his wife died, had been granted. The aged couple lived with an unmarried son, Essie. They are survived by two other children, Dennis of Hemford; and Mary Ellen, wife of Clarence Mosher, New Germany who is now ill; also three grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Mrs. Silver was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Sabean Veinot and is survived also by three brothers, Joseph, Mosher (this is not a typo), and Hibbert, also three sisters, Mrs. Lucy Wile, Mrs. Ellen Silver and Mrs. Sarah Lohnes. Mr. Silver was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Silver of Ninevah, and is survived by one sister, Annie, of that place. The funeral was held Saturday afternoon, Rev. Colin MacRae, of the United Church officiating. It was a double funeral with interment at Hemford.
