Born in New Canada, Lunenburg Co., on September 19, 1922, he was a son of the late Norman and Laura Slauenwhite. Born in New Canada, Lunenburg Co., on September 19, 1922, he was a son of the late Norman and Laura Slauenwhite. In his younger years, he served in the United Kingdom and Continental Europe with the North Nova Scotia Highlanders from 1943-1946. He received the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and Clasp. He was Fisheries Warden on the LaHave River from 1953-1957. With pride and dedication, Eric worked in the public service as caretaker of the Federal Building (Post Office) in Bridgewater for 31 years. He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church and life member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 24, Bridgewater. Eric's family was the most important thing in his life, he is survived by his wife, the former Gloria Corkum; daughters, Marilyn (Lorne) Veinot, Ann (Phillip) Joudrey, Darlene (Randy) Slaunwhite, all of Bridgewater; Carolyn (Jeremy) Glanville, White's Lake, Halifax Co.; sister, Margaret Leary, Brantford, Ont.; brothers, Everette Sr., New Germany; Kendall, Stanley Section; grandchildren, Shannon Timmons, Craig Veinot, Liam Glanville; great-grandchild, Jacob Veinot; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by sisters, Elmore, Helen, Phyllis, Beatrice; brothers, Murray, Douglas, Joseph, John. Visitation will 7-9 p.m. today in Sweeny's Funeral Home. Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Thursday in St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Bridgewater, Rev. Keith Crouse officiating, assisted by Rev. Willis Ott. Private family burial to follow in Brookside Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Veteran's Memorial Park or charity of choice.
