Description	:	In Memory of Eric Paul Mehmen 55, of Las Vegas, Nevada, formerly of Aplington, Iowa, passed away on June 12, 2020, from complications of cancer. He was born July 12, 1964, to Kenneth and Judith Mehmen. Eric was a graduate of Aplington High School and the University of Northern Iowa. Most of Eric's working career was spent at The YMCA of Honolulu and later, the Chicago YMCA. He had been most recently employed at the DMV of Las Vegas. Read More	In Memory of Eric Paul Mehmen 55, of Las Vegas, Nevada, formerly of Aplington, Iowa, passed away on June 12, 2020, from complications of cancer. He was born July 12, 1964, to Kenneth and Judith Mehmen. Eric was a graduate of Aplington High School and the University of Northern Iowa. Most of Eric's working career was spent at The YMCA of Honolulu and later, the Chicago YMCA. He had been most recently employed at the DMV of Las Vegas. Eric was preceded in death by his father, Kenneth, and maternal and paternal grandparents. He is survived by his husband, Martin Higa, his mother, Judith Mehmen, his sister Monica Mehmen, his brother Jason (Cristine) Mehmen, his special niece, Hope Mehmen, his mother-in-law, Mildred Higa, his sister-in-law, Janet Suner, his brother-in-law, Collin Higa, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. Eric loved people and made many friends over the years. He will be remembered for his compassion and generosity for those in need, and for his sense of humor and optimism. He was loved by so many and will be greatly missed. A private family memorial service will be held at a later date at the Pleasant View Cemetery of Aplington. Memorials may be directed to the family.
