Services will be Thursday, January 19, 2012, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Ute with Pastor Gordon Buchholz officiating. Burial will be in St. Clair Cemetery at Ute. Erma Dora (Jahn) Eggen Sander was born January 11, 1919, in Crawford County, Iowa to Carl and Dora (Timm) Jahn. She was a lifelong member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Ute having been baptized February 4, 1919 and confirmed March 20, 1932. She attended St. Paul's Parochial School. On January 26, 1938, she married Harold Eggen in the Lutheran Parsonage in Ute. They made their home in Schleswig, Iowa and then moved to a farm west of Ute for two years. In 1941, they moved to a farm north of Ute where they lived until retiring in 1973 when they moved in to Ute. They had two children, Jolene and Norman. Harold died in July of 1986. She married Louis Sander February 6, 1988. Louis passed away in 2003. Erma moved to Friendship Haven in Fort Dodge in 2004, where she resided until her death. Erma was a homemaker, taught Sunday School, and belonged to St. Paul's Ladies Aid. She was an active member of the Ute Senior Center as well. She loved flowers and gardening. She is survived by her daughter Jolene Douglas of Fort Dodge, Iowa; her son, Norman (Maggie) Eggen of Lafayette, California; five grandchildren; six great grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Edna Jahn of Mapleton, Iowa; and a sister-in-law, Dorothy Jahn, who died just one day after Erma's passing. Along with her husbands, Erma was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Herbert, Walter, and Ervin; and two sisters, Lydia and Arlene; and a son-in-law, Mick. also published by Armstrong Funeral Homes of IA
