She grew to womanhood at Fontanelle and was married January 31, 1923 to Ellis Garoutte. To this union were born four children, Eugene, a pair of twins who died at birth, and Muriel. The family made their home at Fontanelle until 1927, when they moved to Mt. Etna, where the husband and father passed away Aug. 4, 1930. In 1943 the family moved to Waukesha, Wisconsin, which has been their home since. Mrs. Garoutte was a woman of devout religious faith, loving and thoughtful in disposition, kind and helpful in her attitude toward others. Because of her friendly ways she won the hearts of children and was well liked by all who knew her. She was a member of the First Methodist church of Waukesha and for a time taught a class of boys in the church school. She regretted that ill health made it necessary for her to give up the class. Possessed of a noble faith by which she faced life, even though reluctant to leave her loved ones while still in middle age, yet she faced the future life with the same faith and courage and was prepared to meet her Maker. She is survived by two children, Eugene Garoutte and Mrs. Muriel Gake; her son-in-law, Edward Gake; her daughter-in-law, Mrs. Catherine Garoutte; four grandchildren, Dennie Garoutte, Loyal, Lee and Lewis Gake; four brothers, Clifford Newbury, Jamesport, Mo., Royce of Waukesha Wis., Loyal of Ken, Ill., and Wayne of Bedford, Iowa, as well as other relatives and friends.
