Memorials may be made to the Amanda Pentecostal Holiness Church, 4820 Pamplico Hwy., Florence, S. C. 29505. Mr. Broach died Sunday morning, Jan. 7, 2001, in a Florence hospital after an illness. He was born in Florence County, a son of the late Richard and Amelis Friar Broach. He was a charter member of Amanda Pentecostal Holiness Church where he was an original member of the church board of trustees and had served for over 25 years as the superintendent of the Sunday school department. He was a retired farmer. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ella Mae Hatchell Broach, who died in 1991. Surviving are a daughter, Janette B. (Rev. George Hawkins) Hawkins of Florence; six sons, Charles R. (Yvonne) Broach of Wilmington, NC, Herman B. (Betty) Broach of Hartsville, Ralph J. (Annie Mae) Broach and Earnest A. (Betty) Broach, both of Florence, Ranerson A. (Mary) Broach and Larry O. (Shirley) Broach, both of Effingham; 12 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Published in The Messenger on Jan 10, 2001.
