ERNEST LANDINGHAM The funeral service for Ernest Landingham was held in the Church of Christ Sunday afternoon, being conducted by the Rev VM Elston, who read the following obituary: Ernest Burton Landingham was born April 7, 1895, in Des Moines, Iowa,and died Jan 11, 1934, at the age of 38 years, 8 months and 4 days. He was raised in Woodbine and was educated in the schools here. He was married Jan 1, 1917, to Esther Hennings of Loganville, Wis. At the age of 14 years he united with the Christian Church. Mr Landingham is survived by his mother and step-father, Mr and Mrs FB Seeley, three sisters, Mrs Sadie McKenney of Logan, Mrs Ida Mae Barsby, and Mrs Tina McMains of Woodbine; also one half sister, Mrs Ruth Lawrence of Hay Springs, Nebr.; two half brothers, Worth D Seeley of Hartford, Conn, and Kenneth Seeley of Woodbine. He was a trainman on the C&NW railroad for 18 years, his run being between Council Bluffs and Boone, having his home in Council Bluffs. He was known to all of his railroad friends as "Blackie" and was loved by all who knew him. When he became afflicted with illness he was taken to Mercy hospital in Council Bluffs. Specialists were called but were unable to find the cause of the illness. Burial was made in Woodbine cemetery. Woodbine Twiner, January 18, 1934 There is also a slight confusion on year of birth, he applied for a Passport in 1914, while he lived in Portland Oregon and on it 1892 was listed as year of birth. He was listed in the Portland City Directory dated 1915 for 1914 residents. Note: Esther Landingham (born Anna Esther Louise Hennings) was found on the 1940 census, divorced and living in Ames, IA. A family tree posted to ancestry notes that she died April 24, 1981 in Ames. It appears she remarried in 1941 to John Stuckey. Need additional information on the fate of his second wife, Jackie.
