Arrangements have been made to hold funeral services at the First Christian church at 2 p.m. tomorrow. Members of the Mercer Hose company and officers of the Fremont fire department will attend in a body. Mr. Combs had been a sufferer for two years from tuberculosis and his condition last winter became serious. In hope that fresh air would benefit him, he and his wife pitched a tent on a lot which Mr. Combs bought near the corner of Tenth and Grand streets and resided in it. They were driven back to the city by a prolonged blizzard, but shortly afterwards returned to the tent, where the heroic fight for life was resumed. The couple have been assisted by local charitable societies and the Fremont fire department. President R. A. Cook of the Mercer Hose company circulated a subscription paper, last evening and the Chemical Engine company donated $25 toward the funeral expenses. Mr. Combs carried insurance of $1,000. He is survived by a young wife, to whom he was married over two years ago. He was about 23 years of age and prior to his illness was employed in Fremont restaurants as a cook. He came here from Leon, Ia., where his father, three sisters and two brothers reside. One brother, Robert, was at the bedside when Mr. Combs passed away.
