The funeral will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, June 4, 2010, at Thompson Funeral Home Chapel of Orangeburg, with the Rev. Darrell Boyleston and Rev. Tom Doyle officiating. Burial will be in Crestlawn Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Marion Edgemon, Marvin Edgemon, Chris Edgemon, Steve Edgemon, John Edgemon and Ronnie Cribb. The funeral will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, June 4, 2010, at Thompson Funeral Home Chapel of Orangeburg, with the Rev. Darrell Boyleston and Rev. Tom Doyle officiating. Burial will be in Crestlawn Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Marion Edgemon, Marvin Edgemon, Chris Edgemon, Steve Edgemon, John Edgemon and Ronnie Cribb. He was born Sept. 1, 1927, in Cordova, the son of the late Grover C. Edgemon and the late Verga Smoak Edgemon. He served in the U.S. Air Force, was a member of Garden City Baptist Church and retired form Belk Hudson where he worked many years in the shoe department. He was the widower of the late Mae Jeanette Edgemon and was preceded in death by a son, Ernie Edgemon. Survivors include one son, John W. Edgemon Sr. of Orangeburg; one daughter, Brenda E. Cribb and Ronnie of Livingston; grandsons; John W. Edgemon II of Lexington; Steve A. Edgemon of Columbia and Andy Edgemon; granddaughters, Angela Cribb Eklund and Kim Cribb, both of Livingston; Sara Anderton of Alabama; seven great-grandchildren; one brother, Charles Edgemon; four sisters, Maude Antley, Alberta Carr, Louise Robinson and Blanch Driggers; special friend and caretaker, Gerald Starney. Friends may call at the residence 1190 Hodson Drive, Orangeburg and at the funeral home. Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Saturday, June 5, 2010, at Thompson funeral Home, Inc. in Orangeburg. Memorials may be made to Neeses Baptist Church, P.O.
