Read More	Husband of Helen GourleyErnest Fredrick Buck, son of Floyd and Ruth Buck, was born December 20, 1924 on a farm northwest of Tescott and died at Salina, Kansas, on July 17, 1956. Ernest's school life was begun and finished in the Tescott schools, graduating from the Tescott High school with the class of 1942. He attended the Methodist Sunday school and while a boy in the grades, he united with the Tescott methodist church. Ernest chose farming as an occupation and he followed this profession until about a year ago when he became an employee of the Jarvis Construction Company, working as a carpenter. Ernest married Helen Virginia Gourley of Westfall Kansas on July 31, 1955 and since that time they have made their home at 329 S. 9th Street, Salina, Kansas. Ernest is survived by his wife, Helen; his parents, Floyd and Ruth Buck of Tescott; one brother, John of Salina; two sisters, Mrs. Ted Collister of Salina and Mrs.Charles Carlson of Minneapolis. Also many other relatives and a host of friends. Funeral services were held Friday afternoon at the Tescott Methodist Church, with the Rev. W.J. VanCleve officiating. assisted by the Rev. W. Staub, Mrs. Lyle Nelson and Mrs. Mitchell McClure sang and Mrs. otis Nelson at the piano. Pallbearers were Miles Reichley, Guy Yeager Jr., Graham Larson, Dick Christensen, Delmar Percival and Darrell Nelson. Interment was made in Franklin Cemetery. From Linda Carlson on Ancestry.com From The Salina Journal: Funerals will be Friday for two construction workers electrocuted at 3:15 Tuesday at the Salina water department. The funeral for Ernest Frederick Buck, 31, 329 S. 9th will be at 2 pm at the Tescott Methodist Church, the Rev. W.J. Van Cleve officiating. Burial will be in the Franklin Cemetery, Tescott. Mr. Mac Schur, Minneapolis and Mr. Buck were killed at the river water desilting basin when a 30 foot channel iron brushed a 4160 volt power line. Witnesses said this is what happened: the four men were moving the long, slender channel iron inside the basin. The iron had to be turned end for end and the men had nearly completed the job when it brushed the power line. The power line is about 12 feet above the basin floor, holding the iron. There was water on the basin floor from a shower earlier Tuesday. it is believed Schur was standing in a shallow pool of water. The shock blasted a 5 inch deep hole about one foot in diameter in the basin's concrete floor. The parents of Ernest Buck, Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Buck, Tescott, learned of the tragedy through a 5 pm news broadcast from KSAL. A neighbor called the station to verify the identity of the dead man. Besides his parents, Mr. Buck is survived by the widow, Helen; a brother John, 219 S. Phillips and two sisters, mrs. Ted Collister, 513 E. Republic, and Mrs. Charles Carlson, Minneapolis. He was a member of the methodist church at Tescott. Moved From Tescott Mr. Buck had lived in Tescott until a year ago when he moved to Salina to join the Jarvis company. He had been a farmer.
