Read More	HEINRICHS, ERNEST FRIEDRICH CARL—Ernest Friedrich Carl Heinrichs was born to Albert Henrichs and Emma (Ahrens) Heinrichs on Dec. 17, 1914, on the family farm west of Bruning, and passed away Feb. 9, 1996, at the Community Care Home, in Exeter, at the age of 81 years, 1 month and 23 days. Ernest was baptized Jan. 8, 1915, at Trinity Lutheran Evangelical Church in Bruning, by Rev. A. O. Graedner and confirmed April 13, 1930, by Rev. J.B. Cronek. His confirmation verse was Psalm 37:5 “Commit Thy way unto the Lord; trust also in Him; and He will bring it to pass.” Ernest attended District No. 77 country school and graduated from the eighth grade. He then began his life’s work, farming and raising livestock with his brother. Ernest was united in marriage to Wilma Ellen Mau on Feb. 18, 1940, at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Bruning by Rev. J. B. Cronek. To this union two daughters were born, Barbara Ellen Heinrichs and Wanda Mae Howell. The family grew with the addition of three children they took into their home Ronald Decker, who made his home with them many years, along with Paul and Roma Mau (Ferguson), who at a very tender age were taken in and cared for until they married. Earnest was a lifelong farmer, livestock raiser and thresher man for many years until his health failed him. Also a very special part of Ernest life was his involvement with shooting sports, both as an avid participant and as an observer. In the late 1960’s he turned his interest to trapshooting, a sport he rigorously pursued. Ernie was the Nebraska Open doubles champion in 1969, at the 91st Nebraska State Trapshoot at Doniphan. His many trophies displayed in the den were enjoyed by all. Ernie said it was the social aspect of the sport that he really liked. He got to meet many wonderful people and a lot of good shooters, which he passed on to his grandsons and nephews. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing with family and friends. He belonged to the Nebraska Trapshooting Association, American Trapshooting Association, National Rifle Association and Geneva Gun club. Ernest was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Emma Heinrichs; brother, Ervin Heinrichs; and brothers-in-law, Wilfred Mau, Merle Domeier, and Charles (Bill) Sims. He is survived by his wife, Wilma Heinrichs; daughters, Barbara Heinrichs and Wanda Howell; four grandsons, Craig, Curt, Carl and C.L., Howell; also by Paul and wife Pat Mau, and children, Preston, Priscilla, and Phylicia; Roma (Craig) Ferguson and children, Crystal, Will, and Laci; Ronald (LaVeta) Decker and children, Gene, Rhonda, Vern, and Colleen; a brother, Arnold and wife, Mary; sisters, June Sims and Esther Kennard; sister-in-law, Roma Heinrichs and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services were conducted from Trinity Lutheran Church in Bruning, on Wednesday, Feb. 14, with Pastor Vern Barlow officiating. Loan Langhorst accompanied the congregation who sang “How Great Thou Art”, “Going Down the Valley”, and “In the Garden”. Casket bearers were Paul Mau, Darreld Domeier, Jay Kenney, Steve Sims, Mike Sims, and Ervin Heinrichs. Honorary casket bearers were George Cruse, Lambert Hopken, Lester Kennel, Doyle Henrichs and Rick Walters. Interment was in the Geneva Public Cemetery. The Nebraska Signal February 1996
