Read More	Ernest "Ernie" Tammen, 82, of Lennox, SD, died Thursday, December 19, 2019 at Sanford USD Medical Center, Sioux Falls, SD. Ernest George Tammen was born on October 11, 1937 on his family farm northeast of Lennox, SD, the son of Reiner and Jane (Kuper) Tammen. He grew up here and attended Sherman rural school. In 1962 he entered the US Army, serving stateside, as a hospital medic, during the Vietnam war, until his honorable discharge in 1964. On February 12, 1965 he was united in marriage to Shirley Rudd, at the Ebenezer manse in Lennox. Ernie farmed his entire life, on the same family farm where he was born, northeast of Lennox. He was a member of the LaValley Presbyterian Church, until it's closure and then became a member of Faith Presbyterian. Most recently he attended Lennox Ebenezer Presbyterian Church. Ernie enjoyed fishing, driving his antique Ford tractor, listening to old country music, live, on the radio, on recordings and on television. He was a fan of the Minnesota Twins and liked the RFD channel. He loved to play the board game, Fast Track with friends, and every night with Shirley. He also attended threshing shows and morning coffee with his friends and neighbors. Most of all, Ernie was a devoted husband, who deeply loved his family. Besides his parents, Ernie was preceded in death by siblings: Francis Tammen, Gladys Steever and Erma Fossum. Grateful for having shared his life are his wife of over 54 years, Shirley; children: Lisa Tammen, Pierre, Dan (Lynn) Tammen, Lennox and Jerry (Rachel) Tammen, Lennox; four grandchildren: Keira Tammen, Addison Tammen, Parker Tammen and Danielyn Tammen; one sister: Mae Ludens, Rochelle, IL, as well as other relatives and a host of friends.
